

Washington: Milan "Butch" F.Garrett 74, of Washington passed away at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday December 8, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his family. Butchwas born on September 4, 1938 the son of Milan "Bud" V. Garrett & Antonia E. Stanfel Garrett. He married Marlene (Mar)Snider on March 1, 1957 at St. Mary's Star of the Sea Church in Oceanside, CA. Butchis survived by his wife of 55 years, his children, Milan Scott (Diane)Garrett of Bartonville, Rusty A. Garrett, of Washington, Kim M. (Dr. Thanad) Shay of Peoria, Michael J. (Lisa White) Garrett of Williamsville, and Joseph A. Garrett of Washington; one sister, Elizabeth (Bill) Flatt of Mullkeytown; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jimmie Joe Garrett; one granddaughter Sophia-Marie Shay. Butch was a graduate of Manual Training High School in 1956. He worked at Hyster from 1964-1977. He was Union President from 1974-1977. He later worked for Caterpillar and Illinois Department of Correctionsat Pontiac State Prison from 1988-2003. Retiring in 2003 from the Illinois Department of Corrections. He was an avid Chicago Bears, and Cub fan. Butch was a member of the former St. John's Catholic Church in Peoria. Funeral services will beat 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday December 12, 2012 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Visitation will be two hours prior to services. Father Ken Marchulones will officiate.
