Milton "Bud" Eilert Neptun

Peoria – Milton Eilert “Bud” Neptun, 95, of Pekin, formerly of Peoria, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Pekin Manor. He was born in Peoria on April 16, 1925 to Eilert H. and Martha W. (Mellott) Neptun. He married Fannie J. Noll on September 14, 1947 in Peoria. She preceded him in death on September 24, 2013 in East Peoria.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Carson Neptun.

Bud is survived by his two children, Julie K. (Kenny) Schmidt of Rocky Mount, MO and Randall P. (Carol) Neptun of Pekin; four grandchildren, Brandon P. Neptun and Ashley R. (Nick) Ganion of Pekin, Kory (Steffi) Schmidt of Pekin and Klinton (Candice) Schmidt of Bloomington; six great-grandchildren, Christian, Logan, Sophia, and Gabriella Ganion, Khloe Schmidt, and Kaelyn Neptun.

Bud attended Christ Lutheran Grade School and was a graduate of Manual Training High School in 1942. He served in the United States Army Air Corps in WWII from September 1943 until February 1946. He worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company in East Peoria for 35 years, retiring in January 1983.

He loved traveling, fishing, hunting, golfing, and bowling. His greatest joy though was the time spent with his family. Bud was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church in Peoria, where he served on various boards and was a member of the choir for 60 years.

Bud’s funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 20, 2020 at Christ Lutheran Church in Peoria. Rev. Karl Eckhoff will officiate. His visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. also on Monday at the church. Interment will take place at Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria with full military honors accorded. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church.
