Nannie Marie Hunter

Peoria - Nannie “Marie” Hunter, age 77 of Peoria died at 10:00 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 2016, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Marie was born on October 2, 1938, in Waverly, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Malcolm R. and Minnie “Pauline" (McMillan) Davidson. Marie is survived by her daughter, Gloria E (James) Berry; three grandchildren; Jamie (Gustavo) Berry-Acosta, Jason Berry, and Jessica Berry, all of Peoria; four Sisters: Myrtle L. Taylor of Mt. Juliet, TN, Rubye E. Boone of Fairview, TN, Jolene Wilson of Waverly, TN and Enid (Wade) McCaleb of Broken Arrow, OK, two sister-in- laws; Peggy (Jesse) Davidson and Thelma (Lloyd) Davidson of Waverly, TN. Her parents and two brothers preceded her in death. Jesse F. Davidson (Peggy) and Lloyd M. Davidson (Thelma) of Waverly, TN; and one brother-in-law Kenneth (Jolene) Wilson. Marie was full of energy and was never one to sit still. After moving to Peoria, Marie began working at Goodman's Drug Store as a waitress. She moved on to International Paper for many years before beginning work at Caterpillar, Inc. After being laid off from Caterpillar she was hired by Multi-Ad, Fleming and Potter and Apostolic Nursing Home as a cleaner. Eventually she began her own business of cleaning houses. It was cleaning houses and sometimes sleeping over to dog sit that she fell in love with each of her clients, adopting them and their pets as her own extended family. As well as cleaning houses she became a greeter at Walmart in East Peoria a little over 5 years ago where her family became even larger as she cared and loved her co-workers. Nothing made her prouder than her three grandchildren. She was always ready to share news of their accomplishments or stories of their adventures but most of all she enjoyed spending time with them. Marie loved all animals and spoiled any she came to know. Her grandchildren provided her with many cats and dogs that she cherished dearly and kept them supplied with lots of toys and treats. Marie's wishes were to be cremated. Friends and family are invited to a visitation from 1 – 3 pm on February 13, 2016 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria.
