Naomi M. Lampkin, 80, formerly of Peoria IL passed away at 5:15am on (Sunday) June 1st in Rosewood Care Center of East Peoria. Naomi Mae Lampkin was born on May 7, 1934 to Martha S. (Good) Moore and Alfred Good in Richwoods Township, Peoria County. Naomi, the youngest of two children, had an educational background that included brief attendance at Roosevelt Jr. High in the Fall of 1947. She, in much later years, attended classes at the (former) ICC Service Center in Downtown Peoria from the late Summer of 1978 to the Fall of 1979. Naomi's various years of employment are highlighted by, brief and impressionable, experiences at the (former) United Neighborhood Senior Citizen's Center from mid-November 1979 to the end of September 1980. Prior to then, she was a Training Attendant at Oakwood Manor Convalescent Home in September 1977, and employed from October 1977 to late December 1978 again at Richwood Terrace as a Training Attendant aka Nurse's Aide. Her early adult life was often troubled by personal battles with alcoholism, family dysfunction, and other strife. Yet, she still managed to achieve more selfless accomplishments such as becoming a volunteer in 1987 for WomenStrength and later, became born-again and ministered to others in need and poor health. She was an active member of various churches including St. Luke Baptist among others, until failing health and age-related illnesses resulted in her chronic absence. After her beloved family, Naomi Lampkin's proudest achievement was her remarkable 40-year milestone of sobriety in fellowship association with the (local) afiliate of Alcoholics Anonymous. It was a victory that she, always, attributed to none other than God. It was, in fact, through her personal struggle and victory over alcoholism that the Lord was able to strengthen her to help others through her, personal, testimony and witness of God's grace and ability to overcome mankind's darkness, despair, and personal failure for the most blessed joy of salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ. The final year of Naomi Lampkin's remarkable life was arguably the worst, beginning with the loss of her beloved and nearly 100 year old mother. Naomi's , subsequent, grief preceded a rapid and overall deterioration in personal health that, eventually, resulted in her death. Yet, through it all, Naomi Lampkin persevered through constant prayer and faith in God to save and watch over her family and others in need of the Lord's amazing grace. Naomi was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, brother Fred Good, granddaughter Jasmine Warfield, cousin Betty J. Wilkinson, and late husband Cordell Lampkin. She is also survived by her, beloved, four children - Joseph D. Callen of California, Denise G. Brown and the Reverends Michael T.
