

She was born on March 21, 1930 in Lexington, MS to Thornton and Blanche (Smith) Moore. She married Tebell Banks Sr. on September 14, 1947 in Mississippi. He preceded her in death on May 5, 2008. Also preceding her in death were her parents, two daughters, Janie Banks Gayles and Nettie L. Banks; four brothers, Versie Moore, Lake Moore, Rumberger "RB" Moore, and J.T. "Top Cat" Moore; and one sister, Lula Simmons.
Surviving is her four children, Bernice Beard of O'Fallon MO, Dorothy (James) Thomas of Bartlett, TN, Tebell Banks Jr. of St. Louis, MO, and Terryl Banks of Peoria; 15 grandchildren, Joyce (Rickey), Darrin, Sonja, Tonya, Tammy, Andre, Robyn, Monica, Eric (Telle), Kendra (Tessie), Kenneth (Chere), Breonne (Toya), Candace (Jemere), Terryl Jr, and Derek. Also surviving are many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Korith "KT" Harris, Minnie Smith-Buckingham, and Quinsola Bailey; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a special cousin Jeff Moore.
Nettie worked as a CNA with OSF St. Francis Medical Center for several years and then with Buehler Home and then into Private Care. One of her proudest accomplishments was being the owner of Top Cat Records here in Peoria. Nettie was a member of Rising Sun Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Mothers Board and as well as being very active within the church.
She enjoyed bowling, crafting, gardening, fishing, golfing, baking, socializing, driving and playing angry birds.
A funeral service will be at 11 am on Saturday, December 2, 2023 with visitation one hour prior to the service at Rising Sun Christian Church in Peoria. Burial will follow the service at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
