Nick graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from SIUC. He worked for Caterpillar for 35 year, last as an IT Consultant, before retiring in 2009. Nick's work took him all over the world, from Dyersburg, TN to South Africa, Japan, Russia, Australia and all over Europe. From a young age Nick was always interested in astronomy. He enjoyed spending time with his nephew Mark participating in activities with Peoria Astronomical Society, where he served as Parliamentarian and was a chairperson for the Northmoor Observatory in Peoria. Nick was also on the Harbor Pointe Homeowners Association Board as the Director of Property and Maintenance.
One of the highlights of Nick’s life was watching the solar eclipse at his son’s home in Carbondale last August. He always enjoyed spending time with family and friends as well as watching his grandchildren participate in their activities, asking them the three things they learned in school that day, and delivering doughnuts to them as the “Doughnut Man”. He often mentioned he also enjoyed reading the daily obituaries and crossing names out of the phonebook. He had a dry and offbeat sense of humor.
