Olean Joplin

Olean Joplin, age 85, of Peoria, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018 at 11:40 a.m. at Unity Point Proctor in Peoria. She was born April 22, 1932 in Johnston City, IL to Charles and Annie Rains. She married Leo Joplin on July 17, 1948 in Corinth, MS. He passed away Jan. 31, 2013 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one infant daughter, Toni Ann, one son, Charles Leo, two daughters-in-law, Maggie Joplin, Marla Jean Joplin, two brothers and five sisters. She was also preceded in death by her little buddy, Bobbers.

Survivors include one daughter, Vickie (Ron) Kirchgessner of Peoria, one son, John “Scott” Joplin of Peoria, six grandchildren: Joshua, Jeremy, Tiffany, Jason, Willie, Penny, and six great-grandchildren: Katie, Amanda, Cole, Lexi, Drake, and Emma.

Olean worked at Miracle Mart on Adams in Peoria during the late 1960s through the 1970s.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Peoria. Additional visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church in Thursday.

Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date.
