Orva V. Jones

She was born September 9, 1919 in Bloomington, IL to Louis R. and Kathryn (Pflum) Alvey.

Surviving are; her four sons, Alvey (Domenica) Jones of Ann Arbor, MI, Chuck Jones, Jr of East Peoria, Jack Jones of Phoenix, AZ and Rex Jones, also of Phoenix, AZ; one daughter, Becky (Michael O’Rourke) Jones of Madison, WI; eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; and her two brothers, Rex (Barbara) Alvey of Wooster, OH and Harry (Penny) Alvey of Phar, TX.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Irvin Alvey, Lucille Lawalin, Louis Alvey Jr, and Kenneth Alvey.

Orva was a waitress working at the Bishop’s Cafeteria (later Bishop Buffet) in Peoria until it was closed. She then went to Bloomington at worked at the Bishop’s there until it was closed.

She loved roller skating and bicycling and continued to ride until the age of 90.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Monday, December 22, 2014 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. The Rev. Elliott Renfroe will officiate. Burial will follow at Parkview Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to the March of Dimes or to the Retreat & Refresh Stroke Camp in Peoria.
