

Ray was born August 11, 1927 in Callao, Missouri the son of William A. & Virginia T. Morris Grimshaw. He married Iona Weber on March 26, 1949 in Palmyra, Missouri. She preceded him in death on December 3, 1985. He later married Marilyn Zilch on December 7, 1990 in Pottstown.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-two years; one daughter, Beverly (Herbert) Conn of Gunbarrel, TX; three sons, Michael W. (Judy) Zilch of Great Falls, Montana, Charles D. (Judith) Zilch of Hanna City, Marvin L. (Sherry) Zilch of Farmington; one sister, Kathleen Johnson of Independence, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Ray was also preceded in death by his son, Byron Grimshaw, and his daughter, Deborah L. Needham.
He worked in Plant Security then later fire fighting at Caterpillar retiring May 1, 1987. He served as Vice President of the United Plant Guards of America (UPGUA)
Ray was a World War II veteran serving with the 5th Army.
He was a member of Brimfield American Legion; Circle Eights Square Dance Club of Pekin; Morton Whirl-A-Ways; Caterpillar Bells and Bows Square Dance Club where he served as president; and a former member of Wheel N Dealers Square Dance Club, and Diamond Plus Square Dance Club; past president of Heartland Foundation; He also was a member of Peoria Historical Society and Wildlife Prairie Park.
Ray was a member of Second Baptist Church where he served as a lifetime honorary deacon.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Visitation will be two hours prior to services also at the funeral home. Pastor Jim Vincent and Pastor Paul Maitland will officiate.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to his church.
