

Ric was born on August 4, 1951 in Peoria, IL to Henry and Elena (Gonzalez) Rivas. He married Giovanna Roth on August 6, 1993 in New Orleans, LA. He was preceded in death by his father.
Surviving are his wife, Giovanna, his mother Elena, nine children, Jeff (Cori) Rivas, Stacey (Sean) Kenost, Rico (Bella) Rivas, Carlos Rivas, Brittany Ann Rivas, Britny Kay (Hector Acevedo) Rivas, Adam Rivas and Shay and Kade Rivas who still live at home. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and two sisters, Felipa (Cecil) Brown and Ronnie (Bill) Schmeilski.
Ric worked as an Apprentice Pressman with the Journal Star and then as a laborer with River City Demolition and the Laborer Union Local 165. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the Knight of Columbus, St. Jude Council #4333 in Peoria. Ric was known for his generous nature and giving spirit and he supported many local charities. He was an avid Harley rider and will be remembered for being a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend.
Cremation will be accorded and a memorial visitation will be Monday, February 27, 2012 from 5 to 8 pm at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. A memorial mass will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Peoria. Father Terry Cassidy will officiate.
