

He was born Feb. 11, 1961, in Peoria to Henry Sr. and Josefina Garcia. He married Sue Braxton on July 16, 1988, in Westfield, N.J. She survives.
Also surviving are his mother, Josefina Garcia of Peoria; one daughter, Carly Anne Garcia of Chicago; one son, Ryan Joseph Garcia of Prescott, Ariz.; one sister, Nancy (Richard) Andrews of Colleyville, Texas; one brother, Henry Garcia Jr. of Peoria; eight nieces and nephews; and 10 great-nieces and great-nephews. He also had four dogs that he loved very much.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Rick was a retired member of Local 34 IBEW. He was a journeyman electrician for Meister Electric from 1987 until 2005, when he was forced to retire due to an accident that occurred on the job in 2003. Prior to his accident, he was on the low-voltage apprenticeship board at NECA. Rick enjoyed working with the new apprentices in the field. Per his employers and co-workers, he was a valued employee, co-worker, and a good friend to everyone he worked with and everyone he helped.
In his spare time Rick loved to complete the restoration of classic cars. He was very active in the local car shows and events. He participated and judged in the Cops for Kids car show and the Arthritis Foundation car show every year. He also was a three time winner at the Super Chevy car show in Indianapolis, Ind.
Rick touched the lives of many and will be deeply and forever missed.
A funeral Mass for Rick will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Peoria. Father John Verrier will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Saturday and from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria with the Rosary to begin at 8 p.m. Burial will be in Trivoli Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the local American Diabetes Association chapter.
