Roger Lee Zehr, 80, of Peoria, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2023 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born on August 21, 1942 in Fairbury, a son of Joseph Levi Zehr and Alice (Sutter) Zehr. Roger married Rebekah M. Ewbank on November 26, 1966 in Dixon. She survives.
Also surviving are his two children, Jeff (Gladys) Zehr of Norton Shores, Michigan and Janice (David) Perron of Dayton, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Brianna (Philip) Steward, Britney (Nik) Cook and Zachary Zehr; two sisters, Arlene Farley and Carol (Wayne) Fehr, both of Fairbury; one brother-in-law, George Saathoff of Eureka; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Thelma Saathoff; and one brother, Richard Zehr.
Roger served his country in the United States Army National Guard.
He worked in sales for 60 years, last working for JBS United and retiring in 2017.
After retirement, Roger volunteered at Proctor Hospital and the Midwest Food Bank.
He was a member of the Peoria Apostolic Christian Church.
Roger's funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at the Davison-Fulton-Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. His visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 20, 2023 also at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Graceland Cemetery in Fairbury with full military honors.
