Ronald "Ron" Forrest Mann

Ron was born on October 31, 1929 in Centralia, IL to Forrest William and Audrey Madonna (Carter) Mann.

He is survived by his daughters, Patricia Markley of Peoria, Barbara Mann of Pekin and Phyllis Jenkins of Peoria; his grandchildren, Lisa (Gavish) Patel, Tricia Diers, William Richards, Jr., Stephanie Mann, Shaylin Mann, Wesley Jenkins, and Brandon Jenkins; and his great-grandchildren, Gavin Patel, Mira Patel, Jacob Diers, Jocelyn Diers, LilyAnn Hunter and Samara Mann. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ron was raised in Breese, IL and graduated trade school from SIU served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from ’48 to ’52 on the USS Philippine Sea. He then moved to Peoria in 1955 and worked for Caterpillar for 30 years retiring in 1986. Ron was an associate member of the Illinois Sheriff’s Association and a life member of Amateur Trap Shooting Association of America, the Missouri Trap Shooting Association, the Peoria Skeet & Trap, the VFW Post 8662 and the NRA. He enjoyed traveling all over to trap shooting locations and Civil War battle ground sites; he enjoyed reading and was an avid Cardinals, Yankees, Bears and Illini fan.

Services will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at 4pm at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria with visitation beginning at 2pm. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service and interment will be held at a later date at Hillcrest Cemetery in Centralia, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the VFW Post 8662.
