Sherry Vance

She was born on March 14, 1947 in Johnston City, IL to Harry and Hatty “Rose” (Rains) Barron and was raised by her mother Rose and father Henry “Hank” Thomas. She married Walter Vance on July 23, 1965 in Peoria, IL. She was preceded in death by both of her fathers, Harry Barron and Hank Thomas and one granddaughter, Trisha Vance.

She is survived by her husband, Walter of Peoria, their three children, Kenneth A. Vance and Tammy (Ramon) Vance-Harris both of Peoria and Michael L. Vance of Magnolia, TX. Also surviving are two sisters, Susan Thomas and Kathy Bowers, two brothers, Charles (Kim) Thomas and Tom (Jelaine) Thomas all of Peoria, eleven grandchildren, Cory, Kenneth Jr., Ashley, Randy, Alex, Becka, Tyler, Haylee, Skyler, Michael II and Trever, and one great-grandson Kenneth III.

Sherry graduated from Woodruff High School in 1965 and worked for Fashion Bug for 10 years and was promoted to assistant manager before leaving. She worked in Circulation Dept. for the Peoria Times Observer for several years; she was also a Licensed Real-estate Agent with Homeowners Concepts and worked last as a Sales Associate at Sam’s Club in Peoria.

She was active in the PTA in District 150 and will be remember by her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm with a funeral service immediately following the visitation at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. The Rev. Pat Pollard will officiate. Cremation will be accorded following the service and a burial of the urn will be at a later date at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
