

She was born on July 28, 1944 in Grace, Mississippi to Willie B. and Florence (Miton) Metts.
Shirley retired from Lutheran Social Services of Illinois where she was a home care assistant.
She was a lifelong member of Rising Sun Missionary Baptist Church where she was on the United Usher Board.
Shirley loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She was an avid baker.
Shirley is survived by her one daughter, Benita J. (Anthony) Green; two sons, Kenny R. (Felicia) Metts and Evan (Marty) Metts all of Peoria; grandchildren, Brein Metts, Teon Metts, Alentay Green, Paris Green, Anthony Green III, Carissa Lawton, Adrienne Beck, Kenny Metts Jr., Ken’aja Metts, Kenny Metts III, Akendra Metts, La’Corsica Metts, Tyree Metts and Sh’Coria Metts; 21 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; sister, Rose M. Ward; brother, James Metts; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one great-grandson, Brein Metts Jr; one bonus great-grandson; siblings, Willie E. Penny, Evenly Sanders, Geraldine Autman, Mary Metts, Clara Bell Metts, Willie Metts Jr., John E. Metts, Jimmie Metts, and Ervin F. Metts; aunt, Minnie L. Smith; and uncle, Johnnie Mixon.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 17, 2021 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Rev. John L. Gibson will officiate.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, December 17, 2021 also at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery.
