She was born on October 2, 1928 in Peoria, Illinois to John and Marie (Meeker) Strickler. She married Richard Crowley who preceded her in death on February 1, 2016.
Also preceding her in death are her parents, and three brothers.
She is survived by her son, Steve (Lisa Gross) Crowley; several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Margie Hayes, who was more like a sister to her.
Velma was a faithful member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Peoria. She loved birds, and feeding the squirrels who came to visit her yard. She collected all sorts of owl decor and knick knacks.
Velma's funeral service will be held at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel on Monday, February 3, 2025 at 11am, with a visitation to start an hour prior at 10am. Burial will take place at Parkview Cemetery.
