Alan Charles Horner

Alan C. Horner: June 10, 1927- October 15, 2017. Dear Husband of Shirley for almost 67 years. Loving father to David (Joan), Brenda (Francis), Doug (Patty), and Carol (Craig). Loved Grandpa to James (Nicole) and Andrew, and Pa to Ashley (Arthur), Adam (Rhiannon), and Olivia. Proud Great-Grandpa to Calvin. He is also fondly remembered by his step-grand and great grandchildren. Alan was, above all else, a dedicated engineer, and worked at Westinghouse, Stelco, Northwestern Pulp and Paper, and General Electric, where he happily spent most of his career; retiring in 1993. Alan was an avid golfer and a lifetime member of Kawartha Golf & Country Club. For their 30-year commitment as volunteers to Telecare, Alan and Shirley were welcomed to the Peterborough Walk of Fame in 2011. They also danced with the Peterborough Spares and Squares for 30 years. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel of the Ashburnham Funeral Home, 840 Armour Road, Peterborough on Friday, October 20th at 3p.m., with visitation one hour prior. All are welcome to gather for a reception at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
