Beloved Toronto Police Officer and Family Man
It is with deep affection that we remember Tony, a devoted husband, father, friend and colleague who served the people of Toronto with quiet strength and steady humor for 39 years. Born in Calabria, Italy and arriving in Canada at the age of ten, he carried both his old-world warmth and his Canadian pride wherever he went.
From a young age he fell in love with the rhythm of a ballgame. Baseball wasn’t just a pastime — it was a language he spoke fluently: playing pickup games in the park, coaching many of his son's baseball teams, playing for the Toronto Police Baseball league, cheering for the Blue Jays with an unwavering voice, and passing along the simple joy of the sport to anyone nearby. Hockey was another sport he followed closely for years. His favorite player of all time was Bobby Orr. Many winter nights were spent cheering on the Toronto Maple Leafs. Dog walks, reading the pages of a good book and the joy of a good meal, rounded out the easy pleasures that defined his life.
For nearly four decades he wore the uniform with dignity. His 39 years with the Toronto Police Service were marked by compassion, professionalism, and an ability to make people feel safer simply by being present. Co-workers remember his calm under pressure, his quick smile, and the way he’d find a moment to lend a hand or an ear after a long shift.
At home he was a steadfast partner to Jennifer for almost 33 years and a loving father to Bobby. Family came first in the small rituals — early morning coffees, a laugh at the end of a long day, listening and singing along to his favourite tunes & stories shared on quiet evenings. Those who knew him best, recall how his devotion to his family was the quiet center of everything he did.
He cared for Oakley and Tilly with the same steady devotion he gave his family and his job. Long walks with the dogs were part of his daily routine, as were regular trips to the gym to keep both body and mind sharp. He loved reading, whether it was a Michael Connelly novel on a rainy afternoon or an article that sparked a lively discussion.
We celebrate a life of service, love, and simple pleasures. He leaves behind friends, colleagues, and family who will remember his kindness, his loyalty, and his capacity for joy. In the quiet of a ballpark, on a walk with his dog, or in the pages of a favorite book, his presence will be remembered and deeply missed.
Rest in peace Tony. You'll be forever missed but always our memories and hearts.
You were the BEST!
