
CORKERY: Bennery Jeanne: Peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 in her 83rd year. Bennery, beloved wife of the late John William Corkery Q.C. Loving and devoted mother of Christopher (Lee-Ann), Sean, Johanna (Martin), Ceara, Jonathan (Allison), and Katie Velasquez (John). Beloved grandmother of Hannah, Joseph, Benedict, Peter, Daniel, Leonie, Anastasia, John Paul, David, Jacques, Martin, John, Julian, John Vicente, William, and Benjamin. Dear sister of Peter (Eileen) of Connecticut, David of Arizona.and sister–in-law Catherine Maloney of Toronto. Predeceased by her brother Norman (Noreen) and by her parents Norman Henry Perreault and Bennery Healy.
Bennery was born and raised in Worcester Massachusetts. She was a Graduate of the Katherine Gibbs School of Boston and was a member of the 1951 class of Yale School of Fine Arts. She was inspired by colour and design her entire life and saw the hand of God in it all. She left her work at Time Incorporated in Manhatten in 1960 when she married John and began to raise her family. She was a devoted mother and the center of our family and lives. Her great legacy is love and the great kindness she had for all, especially children.
Bennery will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, and her wide circle of friends. Bennery was a longstanding member of the Peterborough Historical Society, a longtime Hutchison House Volunteer and fundraiser, and a member of the Woman’s Art Association’s Antique Study Group and Garden Club. The family is grateful to her dear friend Isabel Heine who was so good to her. Many thanks to Doctors Richard Binnette and John Beamish,Marie Copson and the attentive and caring Nurses and Red Cross helpers, the Valles family, and the many dedicated caregivers for the care and compassion shown to Bennery these past few years and especially to Zenaida Valles, Anna Liza Macaloguima, Manny Pan, Ester Itong, Ester Stol and Maria Nieves. Visitation will take place at the family residence 50 Moorecraig Road on Friday March 9 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. (Parish Prayers at 8:30 p.m.) and again on Saturday March 10 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Funeral Mass in the Cathedral of St. Peter-in-Chains on Saturday, March 10th, 2012 at 12 Noon. Reverend Luis Lapinid officiating. Interment St. Peter’s Cemetery. In memory of Bennery, donations to Wayside Academy or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Kaye Funeral Home “Memorial Chapel”.
