Born April 26, 1926 to William and Clara Mantell, she was a resident of Peterborough her entire life. Betty married the late Bill Gray and had five children, raising them and helping to run Bill’s Lunch and operate a 100 acre farm on Henderson Line.
She is survived by sister Joan Peers of Peterborough , brother Bill Mantell(Bev) of Renfrew, son David Gray(Deb), daughters Joanne Gray and Louise Passey(Ivan)of Bowmanville. Two sons Michael(Gale) and John Gray predeceased her. She also was a six generation grandmother and Aunt to Libby, Lee-Anne and Mark.
Betty(Mom) was a phenomenal person, genial, kind to a fault, warm and full of laughter. It didn’t matter who you were, if you came in contact with her, you walked away feeling like you met a fabulous person.
At 98, to say she had a full life is the Gods honest truth. She was independent, living in her own apartment up until a week ago, still curious, asking questions and devoting her TV time to the Blue Jays and curling.
Thank you goes to the VON, PRHC nurses and special friend and neighbour Pat Young for the endless support. The family is forever grateful.
At Betty’s request, a private family interment will take place. In her memory, donations can be made to the Humane society or condolences to the family online at www.AshburnhamFuneral.ca
