Brian Winston Manning

Passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Peterborough Regional Health Centre at the age of 75. Beloved husband of Lou Bennett, and the late Victoria Waterfield. Loving father of Sara, Thomas (Ziyah Manning), Rebecca (Gui Garcia), Austin Manning, and step- father of Meaghan (Aaron Glover), Noel Bennett (Jennifer Parris) and Emma Bennett (Sue Seto). Proud grandfather of Johanna, William, Oliver, Victoria, Kai, River, Damian, Siobhan, Rory, Lochlan, Emmett, Indie, and Harlow. Dear brother of Rodney, Raymond, Audrey, Bill, John, Bruce, Karen and the late Al. Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, relatives and extended family.

Brian was a dedicated teacher and department head working with high school students at Kenner CVI, Adam Scott CVI and Crestwood Secondary School. Brian was also an advocate for public education through his work as a leader in the local OSSTF union and as a school union rep. Sensei Brian was also an Nidan (2nd Degree Black Belt) with the Peterborough Hatashita Judo Club; and enjoyed competing and instructing. He was an Ontario Medalist in Kodokan Goshin Jutsu and Katame No Kata and represented Ontario in Goshin Jutsu and Katame No Kata at the Canadian National Judo Championships in 2007 and 2009. In his spare time, Brian was a talented guitarist and lyricist who had also become a dedicated practitioner of Tai Chi.

The family will receive guests at the COMSTOCK-KAYE Life Celebration Centre, 356 Rubidge St, for a Celebration of Life, on Wednesday, March 11, from 2 -5, with Tributes at 4pm.
