Peacefully at Canterbury Gardens, Peterborough on Friday, February 4, 2022. Born December 25, 1931 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Carol was a very special Christmas gift for her parents, Hugh Morris Young and Kathleen Allison Young (née Elderkin). Beloved wife of the late Walter Roy Fell who was a joy and a blessing in her life. Cherished mother of Robert Fell (Melanie) and Louise Fell Rowe (Tom). Proud grandmother of Brendan Fell. Dear sister of Hugh Young (deceased), Muriel Stewart and Daphne Alley. Remembered with affection by her many nieces and nephews.
Carol trained as a registered nurse in Winnipeg where she made lasting friends and best of all, met Walter. They married in 1953 and moved to Peterborough. When their children were small, Walter built a cottage for Carol on Monck Lake. In the early years before a road was constructed, they canoed in with the kids and Smokey the cat on board. As Walter’s career progressed, they moved to Brantford, Guelph, back to Peterborough and then to Beaconsfield, Québec, with the cottage as a constant in their lives. It was a woodland escape and a hideaway for passionate readers. In retirement they returned to Peterborough where they reconnected with longtime friends and interests that included golf, bridge and travel. Carol also loved theatre, reading and music (Royal Conservatory piano).
Carol’s family would like to thank the caring and dedicated staff at Canterbury Gardens. In her memory, donations to the Peterborough Public Library or the Peterborough Regional Health Centre can be made at https://forms.ptbolibrary.ca/Online-Donations or https://prhcfoundation.ca/ways-to-give/. Online condolences can be expressed at www.comstockkaye.com. Private interment at Little Lake Cemetery,
Peterborough.
