David Earl Ackison passed away at the age of 73. He was the beloved son of Marie Mary and Donald Swinton (deceased) Ackison and brother to Nancy Elizabeth, Robert “Dean” and John Richard (deceased). He will be sadly missed by his honorary Family, Mary, Morgan and Matt, Jennifer and Jesse, little Jesse, Brandon, Michael, Evan and Summer. Special PaPa to Jessa, Kyelin and Myles. He was nephew to Frank, Bill and Margaret (all deceased) and will be missed by many cousins and many friends.
David was an electrical contractor for 53 years and became owner and President of Ackison Electric after the passing of his Father as well as Peterborough Electric.
David was involved with the Ontario Electrical League (OEL) for over 50 years, continuing a family tradition, and has over time held all Board positions including long term President role. He has won all major awards for significant contributions to both OEL and the electrical sector, he has represented OEL on numerous industry projects and committees including the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA), as well as spear-headed the local Peterborough OEL Chapter’s success. He was a fierce advocate for many small open shop issues over the years.
There will be a private family service held and a celebration of life at a later date.
