

COURNEYA, Doris Madeline (nee Webster) – Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children, on Friday, October 8, 2010 at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Mom was born in Belleville, on March 3rd, 1929, to Robert L. and Rose E. (Buck) Webster. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Gordon Courneya, her parents, and her stepfather, Samuel Rippi. She is survived by two sisters, Teresa Brazeau of Kingston and Shirley McIlmoyle of Welland. Doris was the loving mother of nine, Carl (Shelly) Courneya of Kanata, Michael Courneya of Peterborough, Dalene (Joe) Allen of Bedford NS, Caren (Dave) Secord of Calgary, Penny (Barry) MacLeod of Calgary, Pam Courneya of Peterborough, Robin (John) Roblin of Peterborough, Sara (Kent) Roberts of Oshawa and Glenna (Mark) Ens of Belmont, ON. She was a dear grandmother and great-grandmother. She will also be missed by many dear nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Mom welcomed many people into her home and her heart and she was loved by all. Mom died as she lived – with grace. Her strength and courage were apparent during her battle with cancer over the past 14 months. Mom and her family were so grateful for the outstanding care, compassion and love provided by Dr. Stephan Ragaz, Father Joe Darzycki and the amazing nurses and staff at Palliative Care. We will forever be grateful for the respectful and dignified manner in which we were treated. Sincere thanks! A celebration of Mom’s life will be held at the COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street., Peterborough, on Monday, October 11, 2010 at 11 am. Father Joe Darzycki officiating.
