

GILBERT, Dorothy – Passed away peacefully at Fairhaven on October 16th, one week after her 87th birthday. She was predeceased by two husbands, Stew Gilbert and Edwin “Doc” Steele; is lovingly remembered by sons David Steele and Mark (Charlene) Steele; step-daughter Cheryl Cuffe; sister Sylvia Whitelaw of England; granddaughter April (Tom) Edwards and great-grandchildren James and Sadie Violet, all of England. Dorothy was born in Stamford, Lincolnshire where she enjoyed a charmed village life and later, spent several idyllic years growing up in Egypt and Malta before WWII. She met her first husband, Ed, a Canadian airman, just after the war and emigrated to Canada where she raised their two sons and pursued her interest in art which she shared with her granddaughter April. Dorothy enjoyed many happy years with her second husband Stew.

A Celebration of Dorothy’s Life will be held in the Great Room at Fairhaven on Saturday, October 25th from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. Arrangements entrusted to the Comstock Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 356 Rubidge Street.
