It is with mixed emotions due to failing health that the family of Lenore announce her passing at Fairhaven WV4 where she resided for the past 5 years.
Lenore was born to the late David and Irene (Murkar) Callaghan of Pickering, ON. Predeceased by her brother David (Marie Anne) and sister Mardie Cole (d. Laverne).
She was the wife of the late Maurice Hickey (d. 1998) of Ennismore, ON. Left behind are their children Greg (partner Christine, Greg’s children Linzee, Ashlee, Cody and families), Maurice and wife Cynthia (son Adam spouse Elizabeth and their son Henry, daughter Paige spouse James Powell), Robert, Laura and husband Chris Frost (son Taylor, daughter Morghann, partner Alex Riley and their son Finn). Predeceased by her son Steven d.1980.
Lenore worked alongside Maurice during the days of Hickey Construction, as well as an employee for over 30 years with the PVNCDSB school board in many capacities at both local high schools and elementary schools, the school board with transportation, and ending her career at Holy Cross with her grandchildren as students on her 75th birthday.
Lenore enjoyed spending time on Cow Island at their residence in Ennismore and after the death of Maurice moved to a rental house they had in Peterborough where she lived for the next 22 years before Alzheimer’s took her freedom to stay in her own home.
Lenore was the sister in law to d. Bill Hickey (d. Doreen), Marie Maschke (d. Arnold), Raymond Hickey (d. Monica), Kathleen Morrison (d. Doug), Colleen White (d. Len), Joan Henderson (d. Ron), Marie Gallagher (d. Tom), d. Pat Hickey (Fran), Tom Hickey (Anne), Bonnie Caldwell (Randy).
Also aunt to 48 nieces and nephews with many great and great-greats.
Our family would like to thank Fairhaven for their dedicated care and commitment with Lenore’s health and well being.
Arrangements entrusted to Ashburnham Funeral Home 840 Armour Rd., Peterborough Funeral Mass of Christian Burial Saturday April 11th at 11am, St. Martin's Church, Ennismore, ON, with CWL reception afterwards in church basement. Internment at St Martin’s Catholic Cemetery, where she will remain eternally with Maurice and Steven. Donations in her memory would be appreciated to Fairhaven or Ennismore Minor Hockey in memory of Steven.
