We are so sad to have lost Doug but our most recent memories of Doug when he was out west for the Naud Golf Classic will last us a lifetime. We were all standing around the fire pit one night having a couple of drinks and Doug was telling us stories about how he and his brothers when they were young would wear hockey helmets to get in to the local hockey games in Smith Falls. It's one of those stories where you had to be there but Doug had us all in stitches and when I think of him I remember how "on" he was that night and what a great time we all had. Doug was so proud of his family and his boys. They were his pride. You will be missed Doug.

Doug, you became a part of my life when I was about 4 yrs old. You became my  brother,my friend,uncle to my kids (Rob, Heather,& Dustin),great uncle to my grandkids (Makyla, & Kalia)& a great friend to my boyfriend Rich. You will be deeply missed by us all.    R.I.P love you Debbie

Doug and I spent nearly every day together for a few years when we were in college. It was the best time of my life. We were always on a quest to enjoy everything in life, to pull fun out of every hour, mostly with laughter, sometimes with a beer, often with both.
He was incredibly gifted with 'coolness'. Even though I didn't have his perfect hair or infectious grin, I was sure that he was teaching me how to be 'cool' - but I suppose just standing next to him had more to do with any success.
There was one night with Doug that I will never forget. I was feeling very down after a pretty bad day. We were walking to the local night club which was common for us that summer. As we walked and talked along the way I began to break down and Doug stopped me and then embraced me and I hugged him back. I don't know how things are now, but I think two men in their 20's hugging in the middle of George Street on a Saturday night back in the 80's wasn't even safe. 
We lost contact with each other over the last 25 years. Doug was slippery that way but I also made the mistake of believing other things in my life were more important. The last time I saw Doug was at his mother's wake. I'm sure there were less than two sentences said between us before we were right back to where we left off 25 years earlier. 
Doug shared a special quality of friendship with me that I never found in any other person. I will always feel like Doug was a brother to me. He was special and when he gave that special gift away to me and others, it was not taken from him. Like love, it was not a possession that could be given away.  It stayed with him as it was passed to me. 
I think I am special because of Doug. 
I will miss him.

I had only known Doug since August, but I feel like that was more then enough time to get to know that he was a WONDERFUL individual. He reminded me a lot of my own father that passed away a few years ago, and I strongly believe that is why we connected so well so quickly. Both big hearted, great listeners, stubborn, but VERY funny men that always meant well. As most clearly stated earlier, Doug had a very infectious smile, and such a great personality which I will never forget. All in all just a very special person. 
A few memories I have with Doug would be his love for chocolate. I will never forget the look on his face; how big his eyes got just like a little kid in a candy store, or how he would get a gigantic smile from ear to ear when John and I would show up with brownies or something of the sort. There was another time we had a big conversation about high school football teams and Doug proceeded to tell me how he felt so sorry for me for having to attend Campbellford high school because they had such a terrible football team at which point I couldn't help but to only laugh as agree with him because he was very right. 
As I stated before, Doug was an amazing person, and in the short period that I got to know him, he touched my heart deeply and had a very strong impact on my life.
John and Alex resemble their father in many ways, and the one thing I quickly picked up on was the 3 of them have the exact same laugh. 
I send my deepest thoughts and  condolences to all of Doug's family and friends, especially John. I'm very proud of you for today, and you have got to be one of the strongest individuals I have ever encountered.

I haven't seen Doug in many years and was saddened to read about his recent death.  He was much too young to be taken away.  I always remember him with fond memories.  I received a Ginger Pot from him many years ago at Christmas and every time I dust it, I think of him.  My sympathies to the Bosch family.

We were so saddened to hear of Doug's death from our son Lee yesterday.  Doug visited us next door on Saturday to wish us a good trip to Portugual.  It is very difficult to hear he is gone.  We loved him and became very good friends as neighbours.  Our sincere sympathies to the whole family and especially to dear John and Alex.  Doug always had such a wonderful spirit about him in spite of his constant pain. We return the middle of April; I wish we could be there with you for Doug's funeral.  May sweet Doug rest in peace.
