I missed Doug’s original obituary but noticed his memoriam.
Mr Doug Lorne was my grade 13 math summer school teacher (1971 TASS). He gifted me a 50% pass that allowed me to obtain a a university degree and a successful 40 year career. 
His kindness changed my life. I will always remember him .

Doug was always like a father and teacher and a good friend to both Shauna and myself.  A remarkable and a wonderful husband/father/proud Papa will be truly missed by us all.

Although I only met Doug briefly since moving to Peterborough, he struck me as a caring, compassionate, gentleman who loved his family.  Sincere condolences to you and your family Priscilla.

As I sat in the chapel this morning, listening to the tributes to Doug,I thought how lucky any of us would be to be described by even one of the adjectives used to remember him.          
Our contact with Doug was sporadic to be sure, and in the last few years, we met mainly at the hospital.  He would always ask how we were, showing more concern for our minor health problems than his own condition.  How very rare to have such compassion for others!

Dear Priscilla and family, 

We are away from town this week, but were saddened to receive an e-mail informing us of Doug's death. I knew Doug as a fine teacher, a valued collegue, an excellent card player and a true gentleman. He set the highest standards for his students and himself and worked tirelessly to achieve them. He will be missed by all who knew him.
 I remember visiting him in the hospital after he had received that terrible diagnosis, and he was asking how I was managing before I hardly had a chance to say hello.

He faced his disease with courage and seemed determined to carry on with as normal a life as possible.

We wish to express our sympathy for you & your family, and will hold you in our thoughts and prayers.

I was so sorry to hear the news about Doug. I have many fond memories of Doug. Doug was a very smart and very nice person. I'm sure that he was a great husband, father, grandfather and teacher. I'm sorry that I cannot attend the visitation and funeral, but my thoughts are with you. You will get through this as Doug would want you to do.
