Liz died suddenly on Sunday Feb 09, after teaching one of her beloved fitness classes. Liz was the cherished wife of 30 years to her husband Dr. Jonathan Mallory. She was a loving and fiercely proud mom to Tessa, Jack and Patrick. Her family are heartbroken but are leaning on each other to find strength and solace in their shared grief.
Liz was pre-deceased by her parents Betty and Professor Jim MacAdam; she is missed by her brother Ian MacAdam (Lynn), and sister Jane MacAdam (Thompson Hickey), and her nephews Duncan MacAdam, Parker Hickey, niece Kate Hickey and nephew Cole Hickey. Liz is missed by Jonathan’s mother Enid (late Gord) and by Jonathan’s siblings Peter (Karen), Allison, Laura, and by their families.
Liz and Jonathan are proud alumni of PCVS, where they met and became high school sweethearts. Liz studied at the University of Ottawa, and at Trent, where in a special moment, her proud Father officiated at her convocation. She then completed her studies at Queens, becoming a teacher. While Jonathan completed his education in Ottawa she began teaching in Ottawa schools, especially in ESL classrooms where she taught English to many newcomers to Canada. Liz and her family lived in Englehart in northern Ontario, and then returned to her hometown of Peterborough as her family continued to grow.
Liz lived a life full of love and passion. She lavished love on her children who were the joy of her life and her purpose. As the children grew, Liz dedicated herself to teaching fitness, drawing on her amazing ability to meet and instantly befriend anyone. She became a fitness instructor at GoodLife where she took great joy in teaching classes for over 20 years, brightening the lives of countless people.
Liz loved many dogs over the years and would often talk proudly of her departed furry friends, Dougall, Beau, Cherie, Brody, Peanut, and Hazel. Cashew, the current Mallory canine, is feeling a bit lost and alone, as are so many of us.
Anyone who has had the good fortune to meet Liz, even once, has experienced a shining, sparkling light and a kindness that will never be forgotten.
