Frederick William Hunter

HUNTER, Frederick William (British W. W. II Veteran) – It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Fred Hunter on May 21, 2012 at Peterborough Regional Health Centre in his 87th year. Beloved husband of Buddy (Marilyn, nee Pomeroy) for 59 years. Loving and devoted father of David (Martha), Lori Wartman (Terry), John (Aruna), Susan Waters (James) and Pamela O’Brien (Chuck). Proud grandfather of Kristin and Jason O’Brien, Lexi and Danielle Hunter, Natalie Hunter, and Colleen and Megan Waters. Fred was born in Crayford, Kent, England; eldest son of Sam and Lizzie Hunter. Fred is survived in England by brothers Dick and Jim and predeceased by John. Fred immigrated to Canada in 1947 and worked for 39 years as a draughtsman at Canadian General Electric. A Memorial Service will take place at Mark St. United Church, 90 Hunter Street East, on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Reverend Dr. Robert Root, to be followed by a reception at the church.
