KLATT, Geraldine (nee Patzia) – Passed away at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on July 19, 2021 in her 82nd year. Beloved wife of the late Erwin Klatt. Loving mother of Greg and his wife Shelley and Alan and his wife Claire. Proud grandmother of Mitchell and his wife Marina, Alanna, James and Sarah. Dear sister of Gerda Fast and her husband Neil, Art Patzia (the late Dorothy), Norman Patzia and his wife Frieda, and Joanne Neumann and her husband Heinz. Predeceased by her parents William and Elsie Patzia, sister Beth Friesen and her husband Al. She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews.
Gerri grew up helping take care of the household and her family. It only stands to reason that she would become an amazing cook, an organized, determined, hard worker, who could outlast others in the evening. Like the energizer bunny, she would keep going and going….
Gerri loved the Lord and faithfully attended and served at Murray Street Baptist Church in Peterborough for over 45 years. Having a love of music, Gerri enjoyed singing in the church choir and playing the piano. Even to her last few hours, Gerri talked of her favourite hymns and scripture.
You would know Gerri as a woman with a great sense of humour and able to laugh at herself. One who was an encourager, and cared about what was going on in the life of others, finding out what might be important to them and always knowing what questions to ask. A social person who gave of her time and served as the “Ambassador” at Sherbrooke Heights, welcoming newcomers to the residence, and using her talent for making others feel welcome and at home.
There are stories that many could share that would tell you how special a woman Gerri was, but if you had spent time with her, you would have known her to be a woman who loved much, laughed much, shared generously and knew what she wanted from life.
She will be missed dearly by so many. Be joyful Gerri. You are in paradise now.
A private memorial service will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Diabetes Canada or Murray Street Baptist Church. Online Condolences can be made at www.comstockkaye.com
Psalms 73:23-26 NIV
Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
