Peacefully on Nov. 9, 2021 at Peterborough Hospice. Born Nov. 10, 1927 in Barrie, ON to Dr. and Mrs. West. Emma Gertrude Whittaker of Angus, ON. Lenore attended Angus Public School and Barrie Collegiate Institute and graduated from Toronto Normal School in 1946. After teaching public school in Baxter and Iron Bridge she opted for a career change to business which entailed several positions at RCAF Station Trenton, Westclox, Zellers and Peterborough Floor Coverings and Glass. In 1953 she married Roscoe Moorman and they enjoyed 68 years together. In 1954 they moved to Peterborough where she began 26 and a half years of service with the Peterborough County Board of Education where she retired from in 1988. Roscoe and Lenore were charter members of Northminster United Church for over 40 years. As well, Lenore was a member of the U.C.W.
Lenore is survived by one sister, Mrs. Richard Ireland (Elaine) and one brother, Winston and sister-in-law Carol West. Sister Dorothy, Mrs. Alex Bass and Mrs. James Kennedy (Florence) predeceased her. In 1957 they suffered the loss of an infant daughter at childbirth and an infant son in 1961. Roscoe and Lenore retired to Applewood Residence in April of 2018. After retiring, Lenore volunteered at the local school and baked muffins and banana bread for the Breakfast Club. She also knitted hats, mitts and booties for the nursery at Peterborough Hospital. Lenore was an avid reader, she would read several books per week and tell Roscoe all about the story, as well as finishing crossword puzzles in the blink of an eye. Lenore was in her church choir for 40 years and played bridge for many years. Lenore had many nieces and nephews who she cared deeply for and she will be missed by her cats Zoey and Boots.
