It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gweneth Aileen Ammann, who passed away peacefully with family by her side, on April 26, 2025, at the age of 96. Beloved wife of the late Alfred (Fred) Ammann. Loving mother of Beverley McIndoo (Warren), Debbie Ammann, Nancy Hewitt (Jim), Terry Ammann (Sandi) and Ken Ammann (Lynn). Proud grandmother to Heidi Harrald (Craig), Krista Hewitt (Cameron), Kirk Ammann (Kayla), Jenny Todd (Jordan), Cassie McIndoo (Graeme), Jessica Saleem (Harris), Tyler Ammann (Katie), Piper Ammann and Taylor Ammann. Loved by her great grandchildren, Reese, Isobel, Maddie, Isla, Nora, Jack, Freddie, Esa, Isaac and Mikail.
Cherished sister of Thelma, Leila and the late Frank and Donna. Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Gwen grew up on the family farm and loved working around the cows and horses. She took nursing in Kingston and was an RPN at Peterborough Civic Hospital for years. Gwen was also proud of being a private pilot and enjoyed flying with Fred, in their own plane, as far as the Bahamas.
Gwen treasured her kids and grandchildren, always interested in their latest adventures. She enjoyed travel and encouraged her family to enjoy life to the fullest.
The last several years of her life, Applewood Retirement Residence became her home. She made many friends there and enjoyed a good game of cards or church service where she could sing hymns. Our thanks to the staff at Applewood who were always kind and caring, taking excellent care of her.
A private family service will be held at a later time.
In memory of Gwen, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Peterborough Humane Society would be greatly appreciated.
