

JOHNSON, HENRY SCOTT “HARRY” – Peacefully at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Friday, May 5, 2017 in his 95th year. Son of the late Harold and Mildred Johnson and beloved husband of the late Reta. Long time companion of the late Hester “Hettie” Konkle. Brother of the late Edward (Ted), and Vaughan. Beloved Uncle of Andrea (Larry), Judy, and Patti (Stephen); Scott, Catherine and Christine. Cherished Great uncle to Shelby (Alex), and Christopher; Alexander, Nicholas, and Cameron; Mitchell; Christopher and Alexandra. Dear friend of Ron and Debbie Kervin. Harry was a proud WWII Veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy serving on both the Atlantic and Pacific fronts. Harry continued his involvement with the Navy Club and the Royal Canadian Legion right up until the time of his death, proudly attending Remembrance Day Services, Coe Hill Warrior’s Day and recently the Anniversary of the Vimy Ridge Ceremony in Peterborough. After the war Harry began his own taxi and courier business which he operated well into his 80’s. Harry was a joyful and spirited man who loved to travel particularly to Holland and Australia. He loved going to the races, a great meal, a good story and spending time with his family. A very special thank you to the nurses on D2 Palliative Care and Dr. Black of the Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Friends will be received at Comstock-Kaye Life Celebration Centre, 356 Rubidge Street on Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 7:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m and on Friday, May 12, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. with a Legion Service to be held at 10:45 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. If so desired, donations can be made to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, the Coe Hill Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Peterborough Navy Club or a charity of your choice.
