

Sister Helena entered into her eternal rest at Mount St. Joseph, Peterborough, Ontario on Tuesday, August 21, 2012, in the 68th year of her religious life. She was the daughter of Peter Harris and his wife Helena Martelock of Ottawa, Ontario. Along with the members of her religious community, she leaves to mourn her two sisters, Margaret O’Donnell of Cloyne, Ontario, and Betty Leger (Michel) of Ottawa, Ontario and one brother, Bernard (Pauline) from Ottawa, Ontario and, as well as several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents and brothers George, James, John, Peter and William and one sister, Sister Mary Harris, Sisters of St. Joseph.
Sister Helena received her education in Ottawa, Ontario. During her many years in the congregation, she served in dietary and household services in St. Cecelia’s Convent I Peterborough, Honey Harbour, Almonte, St. Andrew’s West, and Ottawa in Ontario, and in Edmonton and Clandonald in Alberta. She was involved in Nursing and Pastoral Care in Brazil for 16 years and returned to do Pastoral Care in Wainwright, Alberta and Cobourg, Ontario.Visitation at Mount St. Joseph, Peterborough will be on Wednesday, August 22nd from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Mount St. Joseph on Thursday, August 23rd at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Garden of the Sacred Heart at Highland Park Cemetery, Peterborough.
