Ilse, from here on in will be referred to as Mom, passed away peacefully at PRHC.
Mom is survived by two loving sons, Alexander and Peter (Laura). She was the proud and loving Grandma of Noah (Jessica), Mitchell and Austin, and equally proud and loving Great-Grandma to Noah's and Jessica's boys, Alex and Levi.
Mom spent her working years at the laboratory at St. Joseph's Hospital in Peterborough, but there was much more to her than that!
Mom was beautiful, opinionated and full of life. She loved to cook, crochet, read, and listen to music. Mom would crank her little stereo and sing along to "I Believe In Angels" by ABBA, "Working Man" by Rita McNeil or "Glory Days" by Bruce Springsteen, to name a few.
Mom loved watching movies with her son, Alexander. She could never get enough of "Dirty Dancing"; they watched it at least 15 times! She also loved "The Notebook" and "Silver Linings Playbook”.
Mom was famous for her Schnitzels and Rouladen, and Thanksgiving and Christmas turkeys. Her son Peter always knew he would get a fresh pumpkin pie for his birthday, which Mom made from scratch, the night before his special day.
And Mom was the financial aid and cheerleading spirit to her boy’s hopes and dreams. She put Peter through McMaster University, where he began his journey to becoming a talented and successful mechanical engineer. She also put her love and faith behind Alexander’s first rock band, Strobic Axe, and financed the recording and pressing of the band’s first record titled "Hor Einmal Zu!”.
We could go on about Mom for ages and we probably will with family and friends. That's how we'll remember her. That's how we'll celebrate her life, for the rest of our lives.
There will be no wake or funeral, as per Mom's wishes.
A special thanks to Tracy Peters who was Mom’s chauffeur and personal assistant for the past three years
