To Molly and family

We are so very sorry for your loss.  We have only been on Paudash Lake for 3 years but always enjoyed chatting with Jim when we would see him walking his dog.  He was always gracious and would often stop to chat about the many wonderful things about the lake and the Halliburton area.  Indeed there is a silence in the woods since his passing.  Please accept our heartfelt condolences.

Our deepest condolences to the Sangster family. Jim was one of the first to welcome us to the lake. He did our home inspection and helped recruit me to the PLCA. I am honoured to have served with Jim under his leadership of the PLCA. Jim was a huge part of the Paudash Lake community with so much history. You will be missed Jim. Rest In Peace.

Tracy and I are deeply saddened that Jim has passed. As relative newcomers to the lake, in the 6 years we've known Jim and Molly, we had come to know that a visit to drop off a check for the road, or to stop in to ask a question about why things are the way they are, was not a brief exchange. It was a chance to pass on a wealth of stories, lessons, and knowledge. Tracy especially feels like he's the kind of person that you can sit down with and talk to for hours. He was so generous in that way and we are so grateful to have known him. His memory of the Iake will live on as a backdrop to ours, and we hope to continue his vision of stewardship for the next generation. Our thoughts go out to Molly, Ellie May, and the rest of the family.

We have all lost a treasure. We were friends for well over 60 years. We shared so many incredible adventures together over the years. His knowledge of the history of Paudash Lake cannot be replaced, and few people have had as much of a positive impact. Our thoughts are with Molly, Andy, Elise, and Joe at this very sad time.

Jim’s positive impact and influence will be his legacy to everyone who treasures Paudash Lake. It has been a pleasure to know Jim through our many interactions and conversations about protecting our lakes through the years. He will be missed.

Jim Sangster was a very special member of the Paudash Lake Community. His spirit will be with us for years to come. All the hard work behind the scenes he and the Lake Association accomplished in the last few decades is amazing. It’s hard to list all the projects. The comprehensive Lake Plan was a huge undertaking. We can’t forget the Purple Loosestrife eradication using European leaf beetles and the fish stocking of the lake by local youngsters. These are just a drop in the bucket of the many projects Jim was involved in as he served the lake community as one of our loyal defenders of the overall health of Paudash Lake.

Gerry and I are heart-broken to hear the news of Jim's sudden passing on Christmas Eve.  He was such a kind, unassuming, wonderful friend and he should have had many more years of rewarding retirement. 

He was a terrific President of the PLCA for many years because he was so knowledgeable about good development practices and he knew how to influence local politicians with gentle nudging.  This was not always an easy role for him because he had friends on the lake going back for a couple of generations who did not always share his enthusiasm for protecting the health of the lake.  But he took on the role with grace and commitment and resolve.  Even after he stepped down as President, and retired from his full-time job, he helped Highlands East establish our Septic System Inspection Program.  He couldn't let go of helping to protect the lake he loved.

We will miss him so much, as we extend our love and condolences to Molly and the family.

Molly and family, I was so sorry to hear the news of Jim’s passing. I remember the gang at the lake and the many fun times had by all. Jim was a very fun-loving, happy, wonderful fella. I also remember when Jim and you were married and you’d visit mom and dad at their house at the lake.

Most of us on Paudash Lake don't know how much Jim has done to make this place as great as it is.His decades of volunteering on the Paudash Lake Conservation Association, and leading this organization as President for many years, is why we have one of the healthiest places to have a cottage in Haliburton and North Hastings.   Thank-you Jim and your family.

I have many happy memories.  Jim taught me to water ski, which I have very fond memories of. This was no easy task.  I’m so sorry for the loss of such a wonderful man.
