

July 20, 1928 – November 22, 2017 at P.R.H.C. in his 90th year. Much loved husband of Lenore Rose Watson (nee Bradden)(2015). Beloved father of Nancy (Brian), Mark (Nancy), Greg (Karen) and Richard (Angela). He will be sadly missed by grandchildren Sarah (Nick), Geoff (Suzie), Bryan (Ashleigh), Colin (Colleen), Rebecca, Michael, Charlie, Jack, Becky and Brad (Megan) and his 10 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents Lewis Watson and Eva (nee McCann). Jim graduated Queens University in 1950 with a Bachelor of Arts and in 1951 with a Bachelor of Physical and Health Education. After working in Montreal and Ottawa he began his career in teaching at PCVS where he taught Phys Ed and Biology. Coaching became a great love and he spent many years coaching football and basketball. Dad believed that high school students who were involved in either school athletics or clubs were going to be successful in life. With the opening of TASS dad became the head of the Men’s Phys. Ed department. His love of athletics led him to become an advocate for student athletes at the provincial level in the Ontario Federation of Secondary School Athletics, becoming the President. He moved to the administration side of education where he served as Principal of PCVS, Adam Scott and TASS retiring from the board of education in 1989. Upon retirement dad followed another passion, golfing becoming a member at Peterborough Golf and Country Club. He also was on the steering committee for the construction of the Evinrude arena. He and Mom loved to travel, golf and most of all attend their Grandchildren’s many games and events. Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 7-9 pm on Wednesday, November 29th, 2017 at the COMSTOCK-KAYE Life Celebration Centre, 356 Rubidge Street, Peterborough. Funeral Mass will take place at 10:30 am on Thursday, November 30th, 2017 at ST. ANNE’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 859 Barnardo Avenue. Interment will take place at Little Lake Cemetery.
