Joan Theresa Mary Barnes Luther

Beloved wife of Sidney Luther for 74 years; loving mother of: Laura (John) King of Peterborough; Tim (Merlyn) of Vancouver; Tom (Mercedes) of Manila, Philippines; Don, (Kim) of Peterborough; Janet (Ed) Watts of Woodstock. Grandmother of 11, great grandmother of 23, and great great grandmother of 3.

Joan was the youngest child of Thomas Edward & Florence Daisy Barnes. Predeceased by her siblings: Grace (Gerry Clapp), Cyril (Dorothy), Margaret (Walter Ramsay), Archie (Hazel) , Len (Isabel), Florence, Ken (Nan), Vince (Dianne), Bella (Leo Boisvert) and Rita (Bill Lavoie).

She was born and grew up in Peterborough, Ontario and lived in it’s surrounds for most of her life. She attended Sacred Heart School, completing grade 8.

Over the course of her life, she got involved with various groups, including the Pioneer Girls, Revelation Riders, the Piston Pushers, and the Northern Lights Motorcycle clubs, and Women’s Aglow.

A celebration of her life will be held at Ashburnham Funeral Home and Reception Centre, 840 Armour Road, Peterborough at 2:30 pm on Tuesday, December 21st. Visitation from 2:00 – 2:30. Due to Covid 19 the attendance is restricted so if you would like to attend, please check with a family member for space availability.

Future burial at Pinegrove Cemetery, Havelock, ON.

Memorial donations may be made to Wycliffe Bible Translators or the charity of your choice.

The family would also like to thank the staff at Riverview Manor for their kindness and care over the past two years, as well as the caring team at PRHC Emergency and Palliative Care Departments during her last few days.
