John was supported by Karis Disability Services, and has called Peterborough 01 his home since 1991. Both the P1 team and his housemates were as important to John as he was to them, and he will be missed by all who knew him. He was especially close to his friend Jenny who has lived at the house as long as he did.
John was known to have a good sense of humour, a warm laugh, and a smile that lit up the room. He was a great mix of charming, perseverant, and resilient, making him a good self-advocate! John thoroughly enjoyed a variety of activities such as listening to music from all genres, listening to sports broadcasts, having his favourite books read to him, going on neighbourhood walks, shopping for a new favourite monkey, or going swimming. He also enjoyed the local musical theater, Peterborough MusicFest. John was very fond of soaking up the sun from his recliner in front of the large window, and lounging outside on the porch in the warmer months. John was known for his colourful collection of stuffed monkeys, and kept his room brightly decorated. He loved his aquarium, and enjoyed watching his fish as they swam around.
A Celebration of John’s life will be held from the Comstock-Kaye Life Celebration Centre, 356 Rubidge Street on Tuesday June 3, 2025 at 11:00 am followed by a reception.
Loss is never easy, but is even more difficult when it is sudden and unexpected. Please keep John’s friends and his team in your thoughts, hearts and prayers as they come to terms with the loss of someone they held dear for so long.
Missing someone is sadness wrapped in the blessing of having known them.
