Dan was born on December 18, 1932 to Leo McCurdy, and Emily McCurdy, (NEE Beemer), in St. Thomas, Ontario.
He was always a hard worker, and willingly tried many different jobs in his life, until he found his professional niche, as a natural salesman, manager, and leader. Together with his friend and partner, Pat McGurn, he led Surgenor Pontiac Buick, in Ottawa, to be one of the largest GM dealerships in Canada.
His accolades are too many to recount. Dan was a generous benefactor, supporting many charitable organizations. He was a brilliant, highly-motivated, strong force in any endeavour that he accepted.
Anything and everything that Dan decided to do, he did 100%! Never was he more passionate for anything, than his love for God, which became his life's work. He applied himself to this with great fervour. He became an ordained minister in the Community of Christ and ministered to people everywhere he went.
Later he became a student, and teacher of, "A Course in Miracles," which he studied, taught, and lived, for over forty years.
Dan was a strong family man! He often expressed wonder at God's grace, to have been blessed with two wonderful, loving marriages. The first, to Carmel, for 44 years, until her passing in 2003. The second, to Barbara for 18 years, until his passing. He never tired of telling anyone who would listen, of his love and pride for his two children, Don and Sherry, to whom he was father, guide, coach and greatest fan.
His physical presence from this world will be greatly missed. His spiritual presence will live on in us all.
Dan was predeceased by his parents, Leo and Emily McCurdy, and his first wife, and mother of his children, Carmel McCurdy (NEE Damiano). He is survived by his wife, Barbara McCurdy (NEE Wachowiak), his children, Don McCurdy (Rebecca) and Sherry McCurdy Tompkins (Rick Beattie), his step-son, Preston Cole (Ashley), his grandchildren, Jarrod (Tracy), Tyson (Katelyn), Sarah (Alber), Rob (Stephanie), Cole (Laura), Brock (Nikky), Sabrina (Jeff), and Donovan, and his great-grandchildren, Anthony, Hannah, Jaxon, Ava, Robert, Audrina, Faith, Nicholas, and Joseph. He is also survived by his siblings, Penny McCurdy, Jack McCurdy (Claire Patricia), Debra Waters, and many much-loved nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of life on August 14th, 1:30 - 4:00 pm at McCurdy GM, 174 Trenton-Frankford Rd, Trenton, Ontario.
