Mallory Arthur Hamilton was born in Brinston, Ontario, on December 22, 1927, to Tom and Verna (née Mallory) Hamilton. Tom was the village doctor and died of kidney failure when Mal was only 18. Mal's older sister Phyliss had married and moved to Ottawa. Mal's mom helped him obtain his Pharmacist's degree from the University of Toronto and went on to buy a small pharmacy in Havelock.
There, Mal married Marion Wright and they raised their three children, Melanie, Tom and Dwight. Melanie has two children, Amy and Evan, and five grandchildren. Tom has one son, Alex. Melanie lives close to her dad here in Peterborough, while his sons have moved out west.
Mal spent his retirement years, happily living with his second wife, Louella, on their little farm in Lakefield. Mal continued to play bridge, and manage his stocks. All the profits were given to the poor. He built schools and wells in the Dominican Republic, took medicines to Cuba and paid for the education of fifteen poor children. Mal lived by the understanding with his God that he should use only what he needed and give the rest to others.
For the last fourteen years, he has quietly lived at Riverview Manor. Melanie and Louella wish to thank the whole staff there for the loving care they have given Mal.
A private family interment will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery, Havelock.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to Riverview Manor would be appreciated. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.ComstockKaye.com
