February 26, 1926 to November 26, 2025
Nellie, in her 100th year, passed peacefully surrounded by love and family at Centennial Place in Millbrook the morning of November 26, 2025. She was a loving and devoted wife to her late husband John and caring mother to Jon Bullee (Carol Ann), Rene Bullee (Karen) and Alice Green (Jim). She was the world's greatest Oma to her seven grandchildren Jason Bullee, Kelley Bullee (Scott), Chris Bullee (Melanie), Bradley Green (Elsa), Alyssa Green, Leah Green (Tal) and Marisa Manson-Green (Dan). And Great-Oma to her two great-grandchildren Talia and Jesse Levy and her favourite pup Lexi Manson-Green.
Born and raised on a boat in Amsterdam by her late parents Jan and Alida Hoeksma, Nellie was the youngest and only girl of 6 children. She grew up surrounded by her brothers, and their families all of whom she adored.
Nellie and her husband John, along with their eldest son Jon, moved to Canada in 1953, where they continued to build a beautiful life and growing family. Nothing meant more to Nellie than family. Her greatest joy was a full, lively home. Holiday celebrations, birthdays, and Sunday family dinners were her happiest moments. Her door was always open for a cup of tea, a homemade cookie and a round of dominoes.
Nellie will be fondly remembered as the matriarch of the family. Her kind heart, love of baking, care for her flowers, and quick wit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who love her.
The family would like to thank the staff of Centennial Place for their care and kindness.
No funeral service will be held. A family service and celebration of life will be held in the spring.
