July 8, 1936 – March 7, 2022
Peter left his earthly presence, on his terms, with courage and dignity in the arms of his “sweetheart” Joan Michaels, at peace and in comfort, at Peterborough Regional Health Centre after a brief illness. Predeceased by his wife Edie in 2012.
He is sorely missed by his sister Carole Freeborn (Dave d. 2013), his brother Barry (Barb), niece Valerie, and nephews John, Steven and Jeff. He will be remembered with love by his many friends for his stubborn nature mixed with benevolence, his eye for detail and perfection, his willingness to share and enjoyment of life.
A self described “bush boy”, he was happiest at his beloved camp, walking in the woods, making maple syrup, cutting wood for the stove or just sitting on the porch with a cool one. He loved a game of crib with whosoever was with him, giving no quarter to his opponent, and a shot of brandy or scotch before bed.
Although we can no longer touch, see, or hear him, the love and caring he shared will stay with all who knew and loved him. Many thanks to the caring staff at PRHC for their kindness and compassion.
Tributes will be held at the Comstock-Kaye Life Celebration Centre, 356 Rubidge Street, Peterborough on Friday, May 6, 2022 at 1:00 pm followed by a memorial gathering until 3:00 pm.
