Raymond Earnest Jones

Passed away peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at the age of 88. Ray (Ike) will be forever loved and missed by his wife of 69 years, Joan (née Webster) and their children, Susan Bedore (the late Terry), Karen Timmermans (Peter), and Gord Jones. Proud Grandpa of Stephanie Noel (Kern), Matthew Timmermans (Michael Dascal), Alyssa Heffernan (Dean Spittal), Michael Bedore (Rachel Adamson), Jack Jones (Natasha Porter), and Nick Jones. Loving Grandpa Ike of Kendal, Jayden, Eli, Henry, Ella, Mackenzie, and Alina. Ike will be remembered by his siblings, Sharon McKinley (Ormand) and Vern Jones, sisters-in-law, Florence Jones and Linda Field (Bill), his nieces and nephews, and many friends. He is predeceased by his parents, Iva (née Harding) and Edward Jones; siblings, Don Jones, Bob Jones (Shirley), and Bev Carnite (Gord); infant daughters, Gail and Barbara; siblings-in-law, June Dunford (Jack), Bill Webster (Shirley), Diane Carl (Art), Don Webster, and Doreen Jones.

Ike and Joan dedicated many years of their life operating Ray Jones Plumbing and Ike was a 52-year member of the Lions Club. He loved being with his family and having fun in his life. He enjoyed dancing, playing his guitar and singing, and working with his fellow Lions on many projects in the community. Ike lived his life with an amazing sense of humour and a special twinkle in his eyes!

The family would like to thank the PSW’s, CBI Nurses, the VON, and the nurses and doctors on the 6th floor, Palliative Care, and ER at PRHC for their utmost care and compassion throughout Ike’s journey. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, Community Care – Peterborough, or East Peterborough Lions Club would be greatly appreciated.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2024 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM with a Lions Service at 2:00 PM at the Peterborough Lions Club Community Centre – 347 Burnham Street, Peterborough. Condolences may be shared and donations made by visiting www.ashburnhamfuneral.ca.
