Sheila Christina Wilkinson Johnston

Born August 16, 1946, in Toronto, ON to Harold and Margaret Wilkinson. Sheila grew up in Pickering Township before moving to Ajax, ON. She raised her five children in Stouffville, ON before settling in Oshawa, ON with her husband Bill.

Devoted and cherished mother of Chris Nutt (Cindy), Heather Nutt-Christensen (Fred), Trudy Snooks (Daniel), Tim Kerswill (Michele), and Adam Kerswill. Treasured Grammie of Andrew (Emma), Abigayle, Kai and Jace. Dear sister of Barbara, Bob, Bev, Nancy, Ross, Don, Ken, Steve, and Tommy. She will be lovingly missed by her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

Sheila is predeceased by her parents, her husband Bill and her siblings Peggy, Mayme, Kathy, John, Doris, and Helen.

Sheila adored spending time with her family; happily chatting one-on-one over a cup of tea or coffee, surrounded by a boisterous group of her offspring over family dinner or with her even larger (and often more boisterous!) extended family at the Wilkinson family reunions. She had a “green thumb” which she often used to rescue and propagate plants and tend her beautiful gardens. Sheila loved sports and had a hand in teaching all her kids to play baseball. She was a huge fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and never missed a chance to watch a game. Sheila loved to travel and to spend countless hours playing Yahtzee with her sisters (there was often wine involved!). She was a keen baker, knitter and crafter and was always patient teaching these skills to the younger generations. Her pineapple carrot Jello salad was a favourite tradition at Thanksgiving and Christmas (even if it was sometimes forgotten in the fridge!). Sheila was a dog-mom many times over and loved her own fur babies as well as all those who came to visit! She also enjoyed musicals, classical music and was an avid fan of Hallmark Channel movies.
