Steven Westy William West

Passed away peacefully with his family close by on February 5, 2011 at age 53. Soul mate of Diane (nee Loy) for 33 years. Wonderful father of Christopher William (Michelle Moore) and Sarah Amy (Kelly Patrick Palmer). Beloved son of Lois and the late Alvin West. Dear brother of Richard (Valerie), Michael (Christine Vassey) and Sandra Seeney (Grant). Loving uncle of Victoria (Mike Walker), Brandi, Mitchell, Jake and Dylan. Will be sadly missed by his four-legged friends Chloee and Fergus. Steve was a plumber with UA Local 463 for 33 years. He was proud to have learned his trade from his father and worked closely with his brother Mike. Steve was extremely athletic and excelled at basketball. He played first at PCVS and later for the Peterborough Men’s League “Black Team”. He coached the Sir Sanford Fleming Knight’s Varsity Men’s Basketball Team and St. Andrew’s Mites Baseball Team. Steve had broad interests and hobbies. He was a Boy Scout as a child and a lifelong avid outdoorsman, canoeist, photographer, collector of many things and a member of the Kawartha Stamp Club. Visitation will be held at the Comstock Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 356 Rubidge Street on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 from 7-9 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, 441 Rubidge Street on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at 11:00 am, with visitation at the church from 9:30 – 11:00 am. In memory of Steve, donations to the Lung Association or the YMCA of Peterborough Strong Kids Campaign would be appreciated by the family.
