With sad hearts, Bill's family announces his passing on August 28 at PRHC after an eight month journey with cancer. Bill was in his 63rd year. Incredible husband, best friend and forever soulmate of Barb (nee Ward) for 39 years. Bill will always remain in the hearts of his children, Chris (Andrea), Katie (Daniel) and Julia (Patrick). Grandpa goes to heaven with love and special hugs from Samantha, Jessica, Abigail and baby Rachel. Much-loved brother of Claudia & John Hollows. Predeceased by sister Sandra Millar. Wonderful brother-in-law of Mary & Alan Bird, Doug & Anne Ward, Don & Heather Ward. Uncle Bill will be fondly remembered by Scott (Sarah), Brad (Jen), Sandra (Sean), Suzie (Darcy), Jennifer & Joanna (Trevor). Predeceased by his parents Jim & Gwen Johnston. Bill was a true gentleman with a kind soul and the ability to see the humour in life. He began his career as a banker at CIBC and co-owned Able Office Equipment in Peterborough. After selling a successful Amway business, Bill & Barb became professional speakers and had fun speaking together on cruise ships around the world. When he wasn't cruising, Bill enjoyed living on Emerald Isle in Ennismore. Bill loved to serve his community and most recently served on the Brock Street Mission Board and Selwyn Police Services Board. He will be missed by his friends at Donwood United Church, especially by members of the choir. Bill will always be remembered for being the "nice guy" and firmly believed that "nice guys can finish first". As per Bill’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 7-9 pm on Wednesday at COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street, 705-745-4683. Followed by a memorial service at 1:00 pm on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at DONWOOD UNITED CHURCH, 737 Donwood Drive, Peterborough. Memorial donations to O.P.P.
