It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William John Corp, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, on Wednesday, March 19th, 2025 at the age of 87.
Bill was from the old school, where hard work, dedication, and a strong sense of duty were at the core of everything he did. This was evident in all aspects of his life, from his commitment to his education and his successful career. His determination and work ethic paved the way for his many accomplishments, earning him respect and admiration in both his professional and personal life.
At an early age, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on September 12th, 1955 as an Aero-Engine Technician Group 3A and proudly served at the Ottawa and Trenton Bases until November 2nd, 1963 when he was “Honourably Released” and returned to Peterborough, where he completed his High School education, graduating with his Grade 12 diploma.
He started an apprenticeship in main test at Canadian General Electric, where he excelled and was soon entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing all field installations in their Power Generation Division worldwide. After 27 years with the company, Bill moved on to manage a construction company, Nicholls Radtke, where he worked for 10 years. His career continued to soar when he became the President and CEO of Comstock Canada, a nationwide company. Bill dedicated himself to the company’s growth and success until his retirement at the age of 65.
Throughout his career, Bill demonstrated outstanding leadership and professionalism. He served as MCA Canada Chair from 1996-1998, contributing significantly to the industry and earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues.
An avid hunter and fisherman, Bill loved spending time outdoors and cherished the memories of great hunting days spent with his father and brothers. He often shared these stories, recounting the adventures and bonds they formed in the wild. Bill’s love for the outdoors and his deep connection to nature were integral parts of his life, and he passed that passion on to those around him as he eagerly looked forward to his annual hunt camp. He may or may not have used everyone else’s doe tags every year.
Bill was known for his strong work ethic, his love of family, his unwavering kindness to those around him, and his deep faith, which guided him throughout his life. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him, and his legacy of service, love, faith, and dedication will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Though he will be deeply missed, we take comfort in knowing that we will see him again.
He was a devoted husband to Barbara (nee Bell) for 67 years. A loving father to Kevin (Terri), Bill (Jillaine), Barbie (David), Jayne (Mike), and Mike (Mary), and cherished grandfather to 14 grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren. Lovingly remembered by his brother Paul (Carolyn), predeceased by his brother Jim (Marly) and will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 25th at 11:00 am - 12:00 pm at Emily Presbyterian Cemetery, 133 Emily Park Road, Omemee, with interment to follow. Lunch and refreshments will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Joseph's at Fleming Foundation, Woodland in his memory.
