Passed peacefully on Tuesday June 3, 2025 at Hospice Peterborough at the age of 65. Father of Melissa Roly. Dear brother of Sherry Guthrie, Heather Guthrie, Darlene (Ron) Damiani, Norm (Pauline) Quade. Brenda Palmeteer, Sherry Barker, Laurie (Randy) Hill, Darren Barker and the late Andy Guthrie.
Bill loved to bet on the horses. His favourite hangout was Sticks Pub, where he’d meet up with friends and bet on the horses. He enjoyed playing different musical instruments, harmonica, banjo and saxophone. Bill led a very fulfilled life, travelling and working across Canada and in the United States for a while, until they kicked him out because he didn’t have a green card, “His words”. In all of his travels he always found the good in everyone and never held a grudge and was always kind. He had a great sense of humour, even in his last days of suffering. Bill was a genuine soul, he will be missed.
A special thank you to all the Homecare staff from St. Elizabeth and all the staff at Hospice Peterborough. Thank you, Dr. Morelli, for all your care and kind words. Our hearts are filled with gratitude and love for all the care and kindness you all gave our Beloved brother Bill in his final days.
A Celebration of Bill’s life will be held in August 2025, details to come. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Hospice Peterborough would be appreciated. Online condolences may be made at CommunityAlternative.ca
In Loving Memory of Bill
Fill not your hearts with pain and sorrow.
But remember Bill in every tomorrow.
Remember the joy, the laughter, the smile.
Bill is only gone to rest a while.
Although Bill’s leaving causes pain and grief
His leaving has eased his hurt and given him relief.
Remember Bill for all his kindness,
Because he will remember you all and look on with smiles.
So when you look up at the sky, day or night
Remember Bill is shining bright.
